VLC 2.0.5 released with translation updation for many languages

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols. Today VideoLAN has announced the release of VLC 2.0.5.


Improvements in VLC 2.0.5

  • Fix buffer overflow in HTML subtitles parser
  • Fix Mpeg-2 audio and video encoders initialization
  • Fix wrong aspect ratio in some cases
  • Fix Time counter UI look
  • Translation updation for Asturian, Bengali (India), Bosnian, Croatian, Czech, Danish and many more languages.

To install VLC 2.0.5 in Ubuntu 12.04/12.10 and Linux Mint 13/14, open terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and write the following commands

Step 1: Add VLC Repository

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily

Step 2: Update sources.list

$ sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install VLC 2.0.5

$ sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc
