How to Install VLC 2.0.4 in Ubuntu 12.04/12.10

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols.

To install VLC 2.0.4 in Ubuntu 12.10 open terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and write the following commands

Step 1: Add VLC Repository

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily

Step 2: Update sources.list

$ sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install VLC 2.0.4

$ sudo apt-get install vlc

That's it you have successfully installed VLC 2.0.4. To check VLC version open terminal and type the following command

$ vlc --version
