How to install Ubuntu Tweak 0.8.1 in Ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10

Ubuntu Tweak is an application designed to config Ubuntu easier for everyone. It provides many useful desktop and system options that the default desktop environment doesn't provide. At present, it's only designed for the Ubuntu GNOME Desktop, and always follows the newest Ubuntu distribution.

New in Ubuntu-Tweak 0.8.1

  • “Apps” shortcuts was added to right click, in Unity.
  • The QuickLists Editor is working under Ubuntu 12.10 now, with the support for ordering Unity specific items.
  • Love Wallpaper HD has been added to the application (Ubuntu-tweak --> tweaks --> Love Wallpaper HD).

To install Ubuntu-Tweak 0.8.1 in Ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10 open terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and write the following commands

Step 1: Add Ubuntu-Tweak repository

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa

Step 2: Update sources.list

$ sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install Ubuntu-Tweak 0.8.1

$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak



To know the version of Ubuntu-Tweak open terminal and type the following command

$ ubuntu-tweak --version
ubuntu-tweak 0.8.1

That's it. You have successfully installed Ubuntu-Tweak 0.8.1.
